Gorakhpur set to see new era : CM

Stressing on shunning politics of caste and appeasement and contribute to all round development, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Gorakhpur was set to see a new era as his government started several development projects in Poorvanchal Region (eastern UP).

``If we wanted to see a strong and developing UP, then we have to keep away politics of caste and appeasement which was rampant during successive governments in the state previously,” asserted Yogi.

Yogi, who was on a two-day tour to Gorakhpur, made the statement soon after laying foundation stone of GAIl gas terminal and a unit of Hindustan Fertiliser Corporation limited on Monday morning besides laying the foundation stone of a new sugar mill and co-generation plant in Pipraich at Gorakhpur.

The CM said that his government was working for the welfare of farmers, woman and was committed to all-round development of the state where the sole objective was to bring even the poorest of the poor into the mainstream.

Yogi is scheduled to celebrate Deepawali with the families of Vantangiyas on coming Thursday. ``The country would become self-reliant and powerful only if everyone in the society contributed their best and did not indulge in caste politics”, Yogi added.

Elaborating on how his government would script a new era of development in the eastern UP particularly Gorakhpur, Yogi said that many new projects had already been taken up by his government.

“My government has procured 37 lakh metric tonnes of wheat from farmers whereas the previous government was not able to purchase even 30 lakh tonnes in five years,” claimed Yogi and added that a new sugar was also inaugurated in Gorakhpur which will also have a distillery and power generation unit and would generate employment in the area.

“Gorakhpur has been my ‘karmabhomi’ and I welcome BJP state BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey in the city,” Yogi said  while welcoming Pandey who accompanied him to Gorakhpur along with Minister of Sugar Industry and Cane Development, Suresh Khanna.

``The people of the area will be benefited as new plant will generate 13 lakh metric tones of urea every year and latest machines would not pose any challenge to environment,”  Yogi pointed while informing that very soon another fertilizer plant will also be started in Gorakhpur besides similar plants will be set up in Barauni and Sindri in Bihar and Jharkhand.

Directing local officials to immediately send a proposal for setting up a Central School as the one functioning earlier had been closed down, the Chief Minister said that development was the only thing which could take everyone forward.

Meanwhile reports said that after visiting Ayodhya on Deepawali, Yogi will return to Gorakhpur to celebrate the festival of lights with Vantangiyas -a community of forest dwellers on Thursday noon and Deepawali pujan will be perform by him at Gorakhnath temple later in the evening.

The Vantangiya community comprises people who were brought from Mayanmar to plant trees for afforestation during colonial rule. The community faces problems related to use of natural forest produce like fruits, honey, wax, wood and leaves to meet their daily needs as forests inhabited by them are not considered as revenue villages.

Conversion of tribal-dominated forest villages to revenue villages under provisions of Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act will enable the administration to adopt development measures such as setting up of schools, dispensaries and other facilities in these villages.

Officials said that the CM, who had raised issues concerning the community in the Parliament as an MP, will accord revenue village status to 23 hamlets.
