Four persons hacked an elderly man to death over an old dispute in Amethi on Saturday night.
Hari Shanker Pandey (80) lived with his family in Chawiya village of Mohanganj police station area. On Saturday night, he was sleeping in a room close to his cornfield when he was attacked by the assailants
In the FIR, the victim's family named Vinod Tiwari, his brothers Sonu and Monu and their cousin Ramesh Tiwari in the murder. They said that Hari Shanker’s grandson had eloped with Vinod’s daughter recently causing bad blood between the families. Vinod had lodged a case and he suspected that Hari Shanker was pulling strings to prove his grandson innocent.
The family alleged that driven by his supicion Vindo conspired with his brother and cousin to eliminate Hari Shanker and get even.
The police said that the assialants slit the victim's throat with a sharp edged weapon. A case was registered and a hunt was on for the accused who were not at their homes when the police went to enquire.
Menahwile in Deoria, a youth was bludgeoned to death during a group clash over a proert-related ispute in Tarkulha village of Bhaluwani police station area on Sunday morning.
Nand Kishor Yadav and Shanker Yadav had an old enmity over a land in the village. Around 10 am on Sunday, the groups came to blows and later attacked each other. Several person from both sides suffered injuries and Harendra Yadav (27) suffered serious injuries after being hit on the head with lathis. He was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed during treatment.
