Good news for lekhpals in the state

Published on:

Decks have been cleared for promotion of lekhpals to the post of Revenue inspectors as Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that anomalies in their service procedures would be removed at the earliest.

He also announced that lekhpals will get free laptops which will help brining transparency in their working. “The Samajwadi party Government believes in bringing transparency in Government working. If land records are handled in transparent manner half of the battle would be won,” Chief Minister said.

Yadav said that these laptops will help lekhpals in maintaining records. These will be like their personal diaries and have records just a click of a mouse away, he said

The announcements were made after a delegation of lekhpal Sangh called on Chief Minister at his official residence and apprised them of their problems. Following assurance from the CM the lekhpals have called off their strike.

As per the agreement the Government will remove anomalies in the seniority list of lekhpal and send the amended list to the UP Public Service Commission. This will help in removing stagnation in lekhpal service and now they would be promoted to the post of Revenue Inspector.

Principal Secretary Revenue Arvind Kumar said that the ratio between lekhpal and Revenue inspectors would be 10:1 and for this additional 500 posts of Revenue Inspectors would be created.

He said DMs have been asked to expedite the redressal process at the village level.
