The girl was fatally attacked when she was going to attend her computer classes in the locality. The police are yet to find out the motive behind the murder and clues to the killer’s identity.

The grisly murder came to light after some villagers of Barigaon under Ghughri police station of the district spotted the blood stained body of the girl and alerted others in the village.

The killer had slit the throat of the girl with some sharp-edged weapon and blood was spattered in the field where the body was recovered. The victim also had multiple injuries caused by some sharp-edged weapon. A bicycle was also found lying abandoned near the crime scene.

“The girl was identified as a native of a village of Kushinagar district,” the district police chief said.

He said the girl had left her house to attend class at a computer coaching centre 3.5 km from her house.

"On the way to the coaching centre, some miscreant attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon and fled the scene,'' he said.
