Girl found murdered in Bagpat

Published on:

A 15-year-old girl was found murdered in Bagpat district on Sunday morning.

The victim had come to her maternal uncle’s house in Sidhaura village under Shimbhawali police station area and went missing from her house on December 31, 2015.

After a hectic search, the family lodged a case when she remained untraceable. Ten days after her missing, the police recovered her body from a sugarcane field in Puchadgate village on Sunday. Police sent the body for post-mortem and further investigations are on.

“The police sat on the case despite the fact that the missing report involved a minor girl and did not expedite the investigation. We were called on Sunday to reach the police station to ascertain the identity of an unclaimed body. We were shocked to see her lying dead,’ the family alleged. They said the body seemed several days old and it seemed that she was murdered several days back. The issue stirred up public sentiments and they demanded immediate action against errant cops.

Sources in police department disclosed that the girl would have been abducted by some miscreants and was put at some place in the village from which her body was recovered. “It seemed that some persons got a whiff of miscreants’ act and when miscreants came to know this they killed her to destroy evidence,’ the sources disclosed.

Pushed on back-foot, police said a case was registered in this connection and the efforts to nab the miscreants are on.
