In what appeared to be a case of rape and murder, the body of an unknown girl in her 20’s wrapped in a bed sheet was found lying at a secluded place near a primary school in Jhangaha area of Gorakhpur.
It seemed that the victim was done to death somewhere else and later her body was thrown there.
The locals spotted the body and immediately informed the police about it. Later senior officers along with local police reached the spot and sent the body for autopsy. The police are now trying to ascertain the victim’s identity.
As per reports, some residents of Jhangaha spotted a body wrapped in a bed sheet lying near a primary school in the area on Monday morning. On being informed, the police personnel from Barhi police outpost and Jhangaha police station reached there.
After preliminary probe, the police claimed that it looked that the girl was murdered by someone and later her body was dumped there to conceal the crime. The cops also did not rule out the possibility of victim being raped before being murdered. Injuries were found all over the body.
Efforts are now underway to identify the victim and investigate the murder.
Meanwhile in Azamgarh, a 12-year-old girl student was raped by two youths in Atraulia police station area on Monday night.
When the victim's brother, who reached the spot after hearing the screams of the teenager, opposed the rapists, they assaulted him. The injured youth was later admitted to a hospital.
The police later detained two accused.
The victim, a resident of a village in Atraulia police station area, was peeling sugarcane with her mother in her field. After the work was over, the mother headed home but her daughter and her sister-in-law's son stayed in the field. Later while the teenage girl was returning home, two youths from a neighbouring village dragged her to a mustard field. Soon her cousin clashed with the miscreants to save his sister’s modesty but was severely thrashed as a result of which he became unconscious. The miscreants later raped the girl and escaped.
The victim rushed home and informed the family who subsequently reached the spot and shifted the injured boy to hospital. On the complaint of the victim's mother, the police detained two people and were interrogating them..
