German national Holger Erik Misch, who was engaged in scuffle with a local resident of Sonebhadra on Fridy, was finally arrested on charges of travelling on a forged visa. The Sonebhadra Policemaintained that the German national was arrested as he did not have any tourist visa. “Besides, the visa available with him was found to be forged during course of investigation. Hence a case against Misch was registered under section 14A of Foreigners Act (for entry in restricted areas without valid documents) and IPC sections 419 (cheating by impersonation) and IPC 420 (cheating),” said a senior police official. later the accused was produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Subodh Varshney in Sonebhadra and was sent to judicial custody. Earlier, Misch had alleged that he was roughed up by a Railway supervisor at Robertsganj railway station. His allegation came in the backdrop of an alleged assault on two Swiss tourists by a group of youth in Fatehpur Sikri near Agra and triggered widespread concern recently.

The Railway employee, however, claimed that he had only greeted Misch by saying ‘Welcome to India’ when the German spat on him and hit him. The police accepted complaints from both parties and registered Non-Cognizable Reports (NCR). When taken to the GRP police station in Mirzapur last Friday, Misch also attacked two policemen with a stick and tried to flee. In the process, sub-inspectors Harikesh Ram Azad and Mithilesh Yadav were injured soon after Misch attacked them with a stick after getting off the police vehicle. Since he is a foreign tourist, the police did not lodge any case in that matter. However, during interrogation, Misch revealed that an FIR was lodged against him in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh on July 5, for allegedly attacking a person with sharp edged weapon. Misch informed that his passport and visa were deposited in the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court in Kullu. later during verification of the visa, it was surfaced that Misch visited without the country any tourist visa and that his visa was forged.
