Union Minister for law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad termed the 150 years journey of the Allahabad High Court as the journey of development and recalled land mark judgements of this court, especially with regard to widow maintenance, verdict against a sitting prime minister, and also on Ram Janmabhumi. Referring to the shortage of judges in the courts, especially in the Allahabad High Court which runs almost at half of its sanctioned strength, Mr Prasad said that the strength would soon be raised.
He also reiterated the commitment of the Government for an independent judiciary, and said that with technical advancement speedy delivery of judgement has become a bit easier. He called upon the lawyers to come forward and provide free legal aid to the poor.
