Four memebrs of a family sustained severe burn injuries after some unknown accused threw acid on them when they were sleeping inside their house in Jahanabad area of Philibhit late on Thursday night. All the injured were shifted to District Hospital and local police was informed of the incident. They registered a case in this regard against the neighbour as alleged by the victims but claimed to be still making efforts to maintain the identity of the accused and subsequently to lay a trap on them.
Reports said that Shafiq, a native of Jahanbad area of Philibhit, along with his wife Bahana Begum, his 13-year old daughter and son were sleeping on the veeradah of his house when someone jumped inside the house on late Thursday night. Before Shafiq or any other family members could react, the accused threw acid over them. While the mother and the daughter were critical injured in the mishap, Shafiq and his son received minor injuries and were said to be out of danger by the doctors who attended on them at District Hospital.
The victim family has accused their neighbour for the attack as they said to have threatened to take a revenge following a petty dispute between the children of both the families. Police was however investigating the case and so far made no arrest. Meanwhile a girl was also killed over a petty matter in Shahjahenpur on Friday morning. Reports said that Ikram, a resident of Nirjai locality of Shahjahenpur had a dispute with one Feroj, after he refused to give his house on rent. Feroj who threatened Ikram with dire consequences alleged to have intercepted his (Ikram) 8-year-old daughter Fareez, when she was going to attend her school in Sadar Bazar on Friday morning. later Feroj brutally assaulted Fareez and later hacked her to death with a sharp edged weapon. The accused later fled from scene of crime.
A case was registered in this regard and efforts were on to nab the accused. The body was also sent for post-mortem examination. Five persons were also killed when a tree fell over them due to incessant rains during the last 24-hours in Bhariach. According to reports, a big old tree at Mazar of Dargah Sharief in Bhariach suddenly fell on Independence Day in which five persons identified as Begum Sarwari, Amir, Taufiq, Anwar and Safiya, all natives of Kauwapur in Maharajganj locality of Balrampur district, were killed. All the five visited the place to pay their homage and make prayers on Thursday evening.
