In two mishaps on Tuesday morning, four members of a family, including parents, were killed when their car was hit by a truck near Fatehpur village in Auraiya district while in Mirzapur, two students drowned in the river Ganga.
According to reports from Auraiya, Raj Kumar (50) of Baleshwar locality in Agra was going to Kanpur on Tuesday morning along with his family and brother-in-law Mahavir (50) to fix his 27-year-old daughter Diksha's marriage. His son Rajit (25) was driving the car.
When they reached near Fatehpur village in Auraiya district, a tanker driver suddenly applied brakes. Rajit lost control over the vehicle and it hit the truck.
Eyewitnesses claimed that after hitting the truck, the car flung into the air and rolled several times on the road before coming to a halt.
Except Rajit, all other occupants of the cat, his parents Rajkumar and Bhawna, Diksha, and maternal uncle Mahavir, died on the spot.
The police rushed to the spot and admitted Rajit to hospital and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
In Mirzapur, three teenagers taking a bath at the Mishrapur Ghat of Jigna started drowning in the Ganga. The locals rescued one teenager, while two drowned in the Ganga. The Jigna police arrived on getting information and were making efforts to search the two missing boys.
Meanwhile, an intermediate student committed suicide in Mirzapur after jumping into river Ganga late Monday evening. Reports said that Gurudutt Singh, a resident of Gangapur in Pipapul locality of Mirzapur lives with his wife and three children. His youngest son Tripul Singh was doing intermediate from PDND Inter College. He left home on Monday evening. Vipul Singh, elder brother of the victim claimed that Tripul made a mobile call to the third brother, Shipul Singh, and informed that he will not take dinner. About an hour later, he sent a message to one of his friends in which he said he was going to jump into Ganga to commit suicide. The friend rushed and on finding his footwear and bicycle lying abandoned at Gangapur bridge, he informed the family members who rushed to the spot. Finally after a whole night search for the victim, his body was recovered on Tuesday. The reason for the suicide is yet to be confirmed.
A case was registered and the body was sent for post-mortem.
