With sleuths of National Investigation Agency (NIA) yet to make any headway into the recovery of alleged `PETN’ from the UP Assembly, a report of Forensic Science laboratory of lucknow has now cleared that the powder was not an `explosive’.
Sources said that now the government was likely to take action against Director of FSl, Shyam Bihari Upadhya to save the government from blushes. The Technical department of UP Police has recommended action in this regard.
Though the state government hasbeen tight lipped over the final findings of FSl lucknow and claimed that they were waiting for a report from Central Forensic Science laboratory (CFSl) in Hyderabad, sources said that the detailed report of FSl in lucknow has now confirmed that the recovered powder was nor PETN nor any other explosive.
Sources said that shocked with the findings, the government is now planning to take stern action against Director of FSl for embarrassing the administration and leading it to take measures for thwarting any terror design behind the recovery of the substance. The government even recommended a probe by National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the agency is now busy probing it.
However, the NIA which now has the FSl, lucknow findings are waiting for the report from CFSl, Hyderabad where it had been sent for confirmative test.
A senior officer said that the task of NIA now is to find out how did the powder reach the Assembly. He strongly suspected the role of some Assembly employee in carryingthe powder and placing it under the cushion of a chair.
The powder might be a substance used for cleaning but so far Assembly officials have denied it makingthe probe agency to get to the bottom of the entire fisaco.
