Following the footsteps of the chief minister Yogi Adityanath, the animal husbandry minister Surya Prtap Singh Baghel also cleaned his official chamber in the main building on the state secretariat. The minister was stunned when he found the bottle of country liquor carrying the brand name `dhanno’ the character of block buster film `Sholay’ played by Hema Malini, now BJP MP from Mathura. A photograph of the former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav was also on the wall of the minister’s room.
The bottle was found in the drawer of the ministers table. Baghel also holds the charge of minor irrigation and fisheries.
``I was supervising the cleaning of my room as per the direction of the chief minister Yogi Adityanath and a bottle of the country liquor when the table was cleaned’’, said the minister.
``This is the legacy of the Samajwadi party government which we have inherited. Its indeed sad commentary on the performance of the Akhilesh Yadav government and speaks volumes of the work culture of the previous government and also about the kind f of people who were inducted in the cabinet and the kind of people visiting them during their tenure s minister’’, said SP Singh Bbaghel.
Baghel was earlier personal security officer of the Samajwadi party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav. He later resigned from the government job and contested the lok Sabha election from the Jalesar lok Sabha seat on Samajwadi party ticket. He was elected twice from this seat. In 2009 he joined the Bahujan Samaj party and was elected to Rajya Sabha. Ahead of the 2014 lok Sabha elections he joined the BJP and contested the lok Sabha election from Ferozabad lok Sabha seat but lost to Akshay Yadav of the Samajwadi party. He was recently elected to state assembly from Tundla assembly seat in Agra district on BJP ticket.
