Flood situation continues to be grim in Uttar Pradesh where almost all the rivers - big or small - including Ganga, Yamuna, Ghagra, Sharda and Ramganga, have crossed the danger mark.

In Mathura, the Yamuna river has crossed the danger mark, while the river has inundated a large swathe of farmland in Chaata and Maat tehsils.
As per Central Water Commission today, the Ganga river was flowing over danger mark in Bulandshehar, Kannauj, Allahabad and Mirzapur districts. The water level has shown a rising trend, official said.

Similarly, the river Gomti is in spate in Sitapur, Jaunpur and Sultanpur districts. Ghaghra is also flowing over red mark in Barabanki. The Rapti river is in spate in Shrawasti and Balrampur districts, while Budhi Rapti river has also shown a rising trend in Siddharthnagar.

UP authorities have alerted the districts concerned and quick response teams and control rooms have been set up in almost all the districts. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has directed all the district officials to be alert. ‘’Excessive rains in Uttarakhand and release of waters from the barrages have created flood-like situation in UP and hence all preventive measures should be taken,’’ CM said in his  communication to  district officials.
