This Sawan witnessed an extraordinary outpouring of devotion and generosity at Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham as all previous records of donations were shattered.
Devotees flocked to the revered temple in unprecedented numbers, making offerings five times greater than the previous year. In total, 1.63 crore devotees visited the Baba’s darbar during Sawan and contributed a sum of Rs 16.89 crore.
Sunil Kumar Verma, the chief executive officer of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, revealed that during Sawan in the year 2022, the temple received offerings amounting to Rs 3.40 crore. “This astounding increase demonstrates a fivefold rise in offerings between 2022 and 2023 as pilgrims from across the country, particularly from Bengal paid their obeisance to Baba Vishwanath,” he said.
He said the transformation of Sri Kashi Vishwanath Dham into its new and grand form was a historic event in itself. However, the two years following its inauguration have been equally historic in various ways, he added.
“The number of devotees visiting the temple has surged nearly twentyfold. The temple complex, previously covering 3,000 square feet, now sprawls across an impressive five lakh square feet. With the expansion came improved basic facilities, significantly enhancing the ease of seeking Baba’s darshan. This expansion played a pivotal role in the exponential growth of devotee numbers and donations,” he said and added that Sawan extended by approximately two months this year due to an extra month in the lunar calendar.
Following the inauguration of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, the temple trust diligently worked to enhance facilities for devotees. Provisions for drinking water, shade, mats and other essential amenities were put in place.
An emphasis was made on maintaining cleanliness, with 50 employees dedicated to ensuring a clean environment. Furthermore, a hundred personnel were deployed to enhance security and provide convenience for the temple’s 200 workers and visitors. Lockers and help desks have been strategically placed throughout Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham to facilitate the needs of visitors, and free wheelchair services have been provided for elderly and disabled devotees, ensuring that everyone can comfortably partake in the sacred experience.
“The astounding increase in donations this Sawan exemplifies the unwavering devotion and reverence that devotees hold for Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, reaffirming its status as a spiritual and cultural epicenter for countless pilgrims,” Verma said.
