Sambhal Police registered another FIR against Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Sanjeev Balyan for making derogatory statement against Uttar Pradesh Minority Welfare Minister Mohammad Azam Khan.
Police said an FIR was registered against the BJP MP at Sambhal police station by the SP’s youth wing-Mulayam Singh Youth Brigade. It was alleged that the Minister had hurt the sentiments of Muslim community by diatribe made by him and that he tried to incite communal passion. Balyan has been booked under section 153A IPC (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language) and section 506 IPC (criminal intimidation).
During a public meeting in Amroha, recently, the Union minister had reportedly termed Khan as ‘terrorist’. This was second case filed against Balyan. A case was, earlier, filed against him in Rampur on December 23 at Gunj Police Station alleging that the Minister’s speech had created tension and was against communal harmony and peace. Both the leaders have been locked in a war of words accusing each other of indulging in communal politics.
