Fight with full might to win Lok Sabha polls: Mayawati

Published on:

Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati, on Thursday, called upon party workers to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on their own and with all their might to gain power, saying that the next general elections will prove to be interesting and a struggle in which BSP will also play an important role.

Addressing a meeting of the party’s Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand units, called to review the preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the BSP chief said all the workers should fulfill their responsibilities with full vigour and honesty so that by achieving better results a ‘Sarvajana Hitaya and Sarvajana Sukhay, government could be formed.

Referring to the political situation in the country, Mayawati said, “The political situation is changing rapidly due to the narrow, casteist and anti-people policies and functioning of the Central and various state governments, including that in Uttar Pradesh. People do not want the dominance of any one party, rather they seem eager to choose the path of multi-cornered struggle.”

She said that under these circumstances, there was a strong possibility that the next Lok Sabha elections would be contested in the larger public interest and national interest, in which BSP would also play an important role.

She said, “In such a situation, good results can be achieved by working honestly and sincerely on the important guidelines given to the party from time to time.”

Mayawati further said that with good results in the election, Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar’s ‘Self-Respect Movement’ would be strengthened not only in Uttar Pradesh but in the entire country.

While giving instructions to organise the death anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar on December 6 in full missionary spirit, Mayawati said that this time people from six divisions of western Uttar Pradesh – Agra, Aligarh, Bareilly, Moradabad, Meerut and Saharanpur – would go to Noida to pay tribute to Baba Saheb at National Dalit Inspiration Site Green Garden.

She said that people of the remaining 12 mandals would pay homage to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar at the Doctor Ambedkar Memorial located at the place of social transformation in Lucknow.

Mayawati claimed that the BSP was the only party in the country with the determination to take forward Ambedkar’s caravan of ‘self-respect’. She alleged that during the Bharatiya Janata Party rule, people yearned for various facilities, including employment, roads, electricity, water, education, health.

She said, “Like Samajwadi Party and Congress, BJP is also not in a position to seek votes from the public on the strength of its work, that is why it is resorting to narrow, provocative and divisive issues.”

The BSP chief cautioned especially the people of the bahujan community to be very careful and not get misled in any way.
