Fight for Regularization of ad hoc issue continues

Published on:

Opposition members continued their demand of regularisation of ad hoc teachers of government-aided school and some members staged a walkout after their notices for a debate on the issue was rejected. Soon after the Question Hour was over on Monday, members of Independent group including Chet Narain Singh, demanded a debate on the issue of regularization of ad hoc teachers who had joined by December 2000.

The demand was however rejected by Chairman, Om Prakash Sharma on the grounds that it has already been raised under different rule during the current session. SP member Devendra Pratap Singh also wanted cognizance to his notices under different rules but the Chairman did not agree.

After this, some members, including Devendra Pratap, Chet Narayan Singh, Raj Bahadur Singh Chandel and Umesh Trivedi rushed to the Well of the House and raised slogans. The Chairman first adjourned the House for 10 minutes, which was later extended till 12.20 pm. When the House reassembled, the agitated members staged a walkout.

It may be mentioned that almost the entire Opposition had staged a walkout for the entire day last week over the issue while Independent group members sat on the Well even after the proceedings were over and later the Marshals had to evict the, from the House.
