The search for the stray tigress of Moradabad has intensified with the focus being on locating the tigress in its area of movement in Bijnore. Field Director Dudhwa Shailesh Prasad along with former deputy director Dudhwa PP Singh who has been on the forefront of several tiger operations have reached Bijnore to provide technical assistance and make the search more pointed towards locating the tigrsess . Talking to "The Pioneer" on Monday, Prasad who said that the ultimate decision on whether the tigress would be shot or tranqualized will be decided in keeping with the circumstances at the spot. He said that they were at Bijnore to orient the teams so that the results were achieved fast.

"We are in Bijnore to provide technical support and orient the operations so that they become more pointed and help in getting the tigress located. For any further action to be taken what is important is that the tigress has to be located" he said He said that they would also be talking to the shooters and the villagers ,"We are also here to see that possibilities of an accidental mishap are minimized and shooters in their enthusiasm to do the job or in any lack of knowledge do not commit any mistake. We are seeking cooperation from the villagers which is important" he added.

Prasad said that they had studied the kills of the tigress and discovered that it had operated within an area of 100 kilometre. "The spread is vast and we want that the issue should be resolved at the earliest. We have also been directed by the higher authorities that any help that is required should be provided to the teams" he said. On being asked whether they would fix their priority to kill the maneater or to tranqualize the beast, the Field Director said that this was a decision which could be taken on the spot and could not be decided earlier. " Such decisions cannot be taken early because people who are present at the spot can understand the situation and take the best possible decision of what needs to be done" he added.

The tigress which supposed to have killed ten victims has been a bane for the Forest Department. With the tigress getting the easy access to the Corbett corridors has hampered the operation as the beast ca move easily into the forests.
