In a sensational incident in Amethi, a father and his son were brutally hacked to death while four others were critically injured when neighbours attacked them over opposing eve teasing on Thursday evening.
The inaction of the local police led to the killing so and serious cognizance, SP of Amethi shunted out Station House Officer DK Singh, a sub-inspector and a constable. An enquiry was also initiated to probe their role in the killing.
As per reports, Gyan Prakash Pandey lived with his family in Puretejai Bairghat area of Piperpur. His neighbour, Rahul used to ride past his house several times during the day and evening.
last Wednesday evening, Rahul passed lewd remarks on Pandey’s niece and teased her. When the latter tried to warn Rahul to med his ways, the miscreant assaulted and threatened him. Paney later complained to Piperpur police station but SHO, DK Singh merely lodged a Non-Cognizable Report (NCR) and did not even reprimand the accused. Interestingly, the SHO also tipped Rahul about Pandey’s complaint which irked him.
To teach the complainant a lesson, Rahul and his family members attacked Pandey with sharp edged weapons and hacked him to death on Thursday night. When Pandey’s son Rohit rushed to his father’s rescue, he too was eliminated. Four other members - Shyam Prakash, Suraj, Mohit and Gayatri also tried to stop the assailants and were also attacked with sharp edged weapons suffering critical injuries. Even as the locals were witness to the macabre attack, no one came to the family’s help as Rahul enjoyed a clout with the cops.
Soon after the killings, the villagers shifted the injured to hospital and informed the police but nothing was done by the SHO.
A case was registered on the complaint of Shyam Prakash only after senior officers intervened, but no one was arrested. The FIR named Rahul Pandey, Vijay aka Bachcha, Ravi Pandey - all brothers and their brother-in-law Shiv Kumar Tewari as accused.
learning of the connivance of the SHO, SP of Amethi shunted out DK Singh along with three other cops and on Friday, accused Vijay and Shiv Kumar were arrested.
Prime accused Rahul was also arrested from a private hospital in lucknow where he was undergoing treatment after being injured during the attack.
Meanwhile in Meerut, a man torched his wife, daughter and his mother-in-law and later tried to immolate himself over a family dispute. All four were rushed to Medical College but while the women folks died, the man was battling for his life.
As per reports, Sonu Khan of Himaunnagar area of lisadigate was married to Suraiyya eight years back and the couple had a two-year-old daughter Alisha. The couple used to have frequent fights as the husband blew up his earnings in gambling and did not privide or the family.
On Friday morning, the two again had a heated arguments after which Sonu brought petrol and acid and threw it on his wife and daughter and torched them. When Suraiyya’s mother Salma tried to rescue them, the accused doused her with petrol and set her afire. later, he poured petrol on his clothes and set himself on fire. A case was registered and investigations are on.
