In a sensational incident reported from Saharanpur, a minor girl who was raped by a youth had self-immolated just as the local police took no action against the accused. Surprisingly, the cops swung into action only after learning of the girl’s death on Monday morning. They claimed to have arrested the accused and sent him to jail.
Reports said that a 16-year-old girl hailing from Chilkana area of Saharanpur, was intercepted by one Vikas, a resident of Buddakhera area of Saharanpur, when she was returning from market on last Saturday evening. The accused reportedly pulled the girl to a secluded place and raped her. The hapless victim returned to her home and revealed her trauma after which the family members went to get a case registered with the local police. Reports said that the cops initially refused but after some local resident ghearo the police station, they get a rape case registered against Vikas but took no further action.
According to reports, after finding that the cops had taken no cognizance of the matter, the girl under depression poured kerosene over her body and set her ablaze on the same night. The family members than rushed her to District Hospital where after battling for about 36-hours, she finally lost the battle and succumbed on Monday morning. When the news of death of the girl reached local police station, they than raided the house of Vikas and claimed to have arrested him. The case was also altered as that of rape and murder and the body of the girl was sent for post-mortem examination.
