Everyone is equal before law and eligible to get justice: CM

Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday stressed that law would take its own course in connection with the FIRs lodged against BSP chief Mayawati and others.

“Every one is equal before law and eligible to get justice. The FIR against Mayawati was lodged after a complaint was received against her and everyone has the right to file a complaint,” Yadav asserted.

Yadav was replying to a media querry on what action would be taken against the BSP chief as a case was registered against her.

Talking to the media after a function to honour doctors, teachers and other scholars at his official residence in lucknow on Saturday morning, the CM said that impartial probes are underway in cases filed against sacked BJP leader Daya Shankar Singh as well as Mayawati and others.

Opening up at the ongoing BJP-BSP slugfest over desparaging remarks for the last couple of days, the CM opined, “The statement of Singh was condemnable, but the act of the BSP leaders could not be justified either.”

Criticising the use of profane language against Singh’s wife and daughter by the BSP leaders, the CM said,”Had some thing like this had been done by Samajwadi Party leaders, then the media would have termed us as ‘goonda party’. It is unfortunate that a derogatory statement of a leader has turned into a ‘slang match’ between two parties and its leaders leaders who are freely exchanging expletives,” Yadav said.

Using the oppurtunity to attack the BSP chief, the CM asked, “Why did Mayawati not take legal action against leaders who are leaving the BSP after charging her of extracting money for giving tickets for the Assembly polls IJ”

Not sparing the BJP, Yadav jocularly said, “The festival of Rakhiis is approaching. If the BJP people tie rakhi on Mayawati’s hand, then she can forgive them.”

Taking a jibe at BSP chief Mayawati’s claim that Dalits respected her as a `devi’, Yadav warned officials present atthefunction that if Mayawati came to power then they will have to enter her office leaving their shoes outside.
