Surendra Singh, the loose cannon of the BJP is at it again. The BJP MlA from Ballia who has made several controversial, offensive – and plain silly — remarks in the past has said that even lord Ram would not be able to put an end to the incidents of rape in the country.
“I can just say one thing — that incidents of rapes can’t be stopped even if lord Ram comes to Earth,” the Bairia MlA said in Ballia adding that ``such incidents are a “natural pollution of society” and can be curbed only by “inculcating good values in society”. He suggested that “Such incident could be controlled only by inculcating ‘sanskar’ (good character) among men, women and children, and not through ‘samvidhan’ (constitution) of government.”
`` Main dawe ke sath kah sakta hun ki Bhagwan Ram bhi aa jayenge to yeh ghatna (rape) par niyantran kar pana sambhav nahi hai. Ye samaj ka swabhavik pradushan hai (I can say that such incidents (rape) could not be controlled even if lord Ram come to the earth. Such incidents are the natural pollution of the society),”.
Earlier, Singh had blamed the use of smart phones for increase in number of rape cases in the state. Singh had also courted controversy earlier this year after he defended Unnao rape accused Kuldeep Singh Sengar questioning the victim and claiming that nobody can rape a mother of three children. Sigh had cited psychological point of view to make his absurd claim.
He said even the country’s Constitution was not very effective in curbing such crimes. Singh was being questioned about a disturbing incident recently from Unnao district in which a group of men are seen molesting a woman while one records the incident on his cell phone to later circulate it on social media.
This is not the first time Singh has said questionable or offensive things. He had earlier said that “prostitutes are better than government officers”. He also sought to link Smartphone usage to rapes. He was quoted as saying that parents allow their children “to roam around freely”, and this was the main reason why rapes had increased.
In shocking remarks following the arrest of BJP MlA Kuldeep Sengar in the infamous Unnao rape case, Singh said no person can rape a mother of three. “I am speaking from the psychological point of view. No one can rape a mother of three children. It is not possible, this is a conspiracy against him (Sengar),” he had said.
Surendra Singh has also asked for the world-famous Taj Mahal in Agra to be renamed “Ram Mahal”.
