To realise the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of making Uttar Pradesh a USD 1-trillion economy, emphasis is being laid on increasing exports. Accordingly, work has been started after making an action plan.
An official spokesman of the government claimed that the industrial activities of the state have got a new lease of life in the last few years due to the efforts of CM Yogi Adityanath.
“The exports have increased by 30 per cent to Rs 1.56 lakh crore from Rs 1.21 lakh crore last year. The aim of the government is to make this figure Rs 2 lakh crore in the next three years. Efforts have been made to identify which products have potential for export. What are the major products in which district and what are their prospects, it has been studied. 15 such sectors have been selected at the state level. In addition to the products which have been exported, those products have also been identified which can be exported with a little more effort,” he said.
The spokesman further said that work was being done on the District Export Plan in every district. “Along with this, district export committees have also been formed under the chairmanship of DMs. A meeting will be held every month and the department will be informed about the problems faced by exporters at the local level,” he added.
Additional Chief Secretary, MSME, Dr Navneet Sehgal said that the department has contacted all the embassies and information is being taken from them about the requirement of products.
“The exporters are being linked directly with the buyers from abroad. Efforts are being made by the department to have maximum buyers. Apart from this, information about fairs and exhibitions to be held abroad is also being collected. There is also a plan to send UP exporters to fairs and exhibitions abroad,” he said.
The MSME department deals with electronic equipment, machinery, vehicles and vehicular equipment, gems and jewellery, organic chemicals, iron and steel articles, apparel (including saris), furniture, leather and leather products, sports goods, glass and glassware, perfume, ceramic, carpet and handicraft sectors.
Yogi’s dream project, One District One Product (ODOP), is going to play a big role in exports, the spokesman said.
ODOP will also be branded by the government in the embassies of other countries. ODOP products will also be displayed in the embassies. The products will also be made available on e-commerce platforms to increase the export.
The CM has doubled the budget of Uttar Pradesh Export Infrastructure Development Scheme this year to promote exports. A sum of Rs 7 crore has been allocated for this scheme. Similarly, for giving subsidies under the Accelerated Export Development Promotion Scheme, the budget has been increased by more than double to Rs 25 crore this year.
