Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi along with two other Election Commissioners will review preparations for the UP Assembly elections for the first two phases at Agra on January 29 and 30.
In the first two phases, a total of 140 seats of western UP will go to polls on February 11 and 15. EC sources said in lucknow that the CEC would reach Agra by road from New Delhi on the afternoon of January 29.
The CEC will interact with representatives of national and regional parties for an hour and thereafter review poll preparations made by the state election office and the police department. The CEC will also meet officials of the Income Tax, Excise and Transport departments.
On January 30, the CEC and his team will hold crucial meetings with district officials of the area going to polls in the first two phases. The meeting would be attended by district election officers, Commissioners, IGs, DIGs, SSPs and others. The EC team will return to New Delhi by road after holding a press conference in Agra.
