Durga's suspension: BJP questions government's intention

Published on:

Questioning the intention of Samajwadi Party government in suspending trainee IAS officer , the state unit of Bharatiya Janata party said that district magistrate and lIU’s reports have exposed the lies of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and this goes beyond saying that Government had issued this issue to get political mileage

"The report of local intelligence Unit (lIU) has revealed that the action against SDM Gautam Budh Nagar Durga Shakti Nagpal was not administrative but had the political overtone. The District Magistrate had said in his report that SDM Durga Shakti had not ordered demolition of mosque wall and this was corroborated by the lIU report," BJP chief spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said here on Tuesday.

He said had it been administrative decision the DM’s report should have got precedence over other reports. "When CM was asked about DM’s report  giving clean chit to Durga Shakti the CM had said that there is lIU report. Now, lIU report too says that she was not involved with the demolition of mosque. What M will say nowIJ Both the reports have now exposed the state government," Pathak said.

The BJP leader said that the samajwadi party was using this issue to appease Muslims. This is also proved by the statement of a senior minister who had said that Akhilesh Yadav is towing his father’s line. Yadav Sr saved Babri mosque by opening fire at kar sewaks and his son saved mosque by suspending a bureaucrat.  "This statement itself shows that Samajwadi party is trying to get political mileage out of this issue," the BJP spokesman said.

Even the PWD minister Shivpal Singh Yadav said in Ballia that the suspended IAS could have been in nexus with the opposition political parties for  triggering  communal violence in the state.  "People want to know if the Government is so keen to punish the bureaucrats why no action was taken against the CO who was present at the village during demolition of mosque wall. Why was he spared and axe fell on Durga Shakti," Pathak asked.  The IAS was suspended on July 27 after she reported to have demolished a boundary wall of a mosque at Kadalpur village in Gautambudg Nagar though the DM reports says that the villagers themselves have demolished the wall. The UP government has appointed Meerut Divisional Commissioner Manjit Singh as the Investigation Officer (IO) in the suspension case. The UP government had also served charge sheet to the suspended IAS officer and she has been asked to reply it within a fortnight.
