The two accused in Priti’s fake murder case on Saturday got the much needed respite from the Fast Track Court. The court of Rita Mishra delivered verdict in favour of Ajeet and Amarjeet while hearing a discharge petition filed on the basis of the investigation report submitted by CID.
“They have been discharged from the case as no evidence were found against them in the investigation report,” said Public Prosecutor in-charge BN Sharma.
Ajeet and Amarjeet were languishing at Birsa Munda Jail for over a month and their relatives had to run from pillar to post to prove the two innocent. The family is heaving a sigh of relief after the verdict came in their favour which was also confirmed by brother of Ajeet, Chandan. “The verdict came in the afternoon and they came out of the Jail at 6:45 in the evening,” said Chandan. The discharge petition was based on the investigation report of CID which had termed the accused ‘currently innocent’ a reason which caused a delay due to its connotation and lack of clarity about its implications on the case. It was a moment which the two could not put in words. After coming out of jail Ajeet and Amarjeet demanded justice and expressed their wish that real people behind this should be punished for falsely implicating them.
“We had lost all hope. I am happy to come out. But I want that the real culprit should be punished for playing with our future,” said Amarjeet after coming out of Jail. The matter had travelled to different courts owing to its nature that had made the relatives worried about the fate of the two boys.
