Bahujan Samaj Party’s UP unit chief Bhim Rajbhar kicked up a row by advising the masses to drink toddy (palm wine or tadi) for thwarting coronavirus infection.
Speaking at a public function in Ballia on Tuesday, Rajbhar further ruffled religious feathers by terming toddy purer than Gangajal, considered sacred by Hindus.
Arriving at his hometown Ballia after being appointed the BSP UP unit chief, Rajbhar said that toddy boosted immunity and drinking it regularly would prevent coronavirus infection.
The BSP leader added that as Rajbhars drink toddy fiercely, hence the incidence of coronavirus infection was less among the community.
At the same time, the BSP leader chose to attack former minister of UP and Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party chief Om Prakash Rajbhar, alleging that he was spreading confusion among the people in the name of serving their interests and cautioned the crowd to be careful with such leaders.
