Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Baba Bhimrao Ambedkar was the true architect of India who worked for the uplift of the downtrodden and the Bharatiya Janata Party was only party in the country which was following the path shown by him.

Speaking on 'Relevance of Ambedkar in Modern India’ at a function held in Gorakhpur on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that Babasaheb is remembered as the architect of Modern India and his biggest contribution to the country is the Constitution which talks about equality.

Yogi also unveiled Dr Ambedkar’s statue at Kampiarganj in Gorakhpur -the city he represents in lok Sabha.

“Dr Ambedkar faced discrimination in the society but it did not reflect while he penned the Constitution. He shepherded different ideas to bring parity for all sections of the society in the Constitution,” he said.

Yogi said that for those outifts working in the social sector, Ambedkar’s ideology should be the guiding principles. "The only mantra these organisations should have is about alleviating the downtrodden and bringing them into the main stream. Empower them by kindling the light of knowledge in their lives," he said.

“It is Dr Ambedkar, who advocated the principle of demonetisation. He was of the view that currencies should be demonetised every 10 years to end corruption. The BJP followed his path and demonetised high value notes. It had its impact and the NDA Government was able to control corruption,” Yogi said and added that it was only Modi who started work on `Panch Teerth’.

The CM said that since 2014, the country was witnessing a revolution. "The Government under Narendra Modi is working for the uplift of poor, farmers, Dalits and unemployed. The NDA Government has initiated a process of empowering Dalits and over 25000 Dalit youths were being given self-employment opportunities," he said.

“The UP Government is following the foot steps of the Modi government. No one will be allowed to take law in his hand. Action has been initiated against all mafia – be it land or mining. The wheel of progress has started rolling. large scale investments will start flowing. We will ensure that the youths get employment at doorstep,” he said.

Earlier, Yogi inaugurated a Civil Terminal at Gorakhpur airport and said that regional flight connectivity be promoted for development of the state and inauguration of the terminal was a right step in this direction.

The CM said that earlier, flights were meant only for the rich but once air tickets have been priced down by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it has benefited all sections of the society. “Development of small cities can be expedited if these were linked to big cities through cheap air service,” Yogi said and added that flights will start from Gorakhpur to Mumbai and Kathmandu soon.

Union minister of state for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha said that after the inauguration, work on the second terminal would start soon.
