Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that his government was committed to double the income of farmers by 2022 and therefore using all modern methods to ensure that farmers should get best possible facilities be it seeds or fertilizers.

Addressing a function at World Soil Fertility Day here on Tuesday CM said that identifying the strength of soil is the first step towards increasing its fertility. Government has set up Kisan Paathshala (school) to educate them about modern techniques in farming as well as imparting education about best possible facilities in the state, he said.

“This is the first government of Uttar Pradesh which had made farmer as centre point of its policy framework. Earlier caste and region used to be agenda for the governments but now farmer is the agenda of development,” he said adding that government is moving in a systematic way to increase the farm production which will ultimately lead to doubling their income.

Yogi said that prime Minister has introduced soil health card. This is a revolutionary step as it will tell the farmer about the health of his farm land. The experts can then suggest what fertilizer is to use and in what ratio. “We have exploited our dharati mata. Where we are today it is only because of this exploitation,” he said.

“Government also wants to open Agriculture Science Centres across the state. These centres will bring scientists closure to farmers,” he said.

He also talked about Government decision to waive of crop loans of the farmers. Over 86 lakh marginal and small farmers stand benefitted by this decision. It was an important decision which had helped farmers coming out of the net of debt. Besides, it the government has forced farmers to clear the cane dues. The government has also made a plan to irrigate over 60,000 acre of unirrigated land by May-June, he said.

Yogi also released a book The Million Farmers’ School and also launched a mobile App for the farmers.
