With Assembly polls scheduled sometime in the start of next year, DGP Jaweed Ahmad issued an order asking the shifting of all officers completing more than three years at one place or those who have been posted in their home districts or in the jurisdiction of their Assembly segment. The orders were issued on the advisory of the Election Commission sent to the DGP for immediate compliance.

In the orders sent to all zonal IGs, range DIGs, district police chiefs etc on Friday, the DGP said that all Inspectors and sub-inspectors having completed three years in one district in the last four years (till May 31, 2017) should be shifted and posted in other districts as per Election Commission’s order.

The order further said that their tenure be counted from the date of posting at any district or Assembly segment in the last four years even if he/she was promoted to a higher post.

Ahmed also clarified that those officers, who were scheduled to retire in the next six months, should be exempted from the exercise.

Interestingly, the DGP asked his junior colleagues that the shifting process be completed by September 7 and a compliance report be sent to his office. He said that supervisory officers should submit a report informing that no more officers were working at the same place.

Besdies, the DGP also issued orders asking officers concerned to give a day off to all the cops in the district after ten days of duty. With this order, now all non-gazetted personnel posted in districts would get three days-off every month. The order was issued following the Chief Minister’s direction in this regard.
