Reiterating his commitment to continue his fight against black money Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that a developed Uttar Pradesh will help in eradicating poverty and illiteracy from India.

“They say remove Modi, I say remove black money. They say remove Modi, I say remove corruption. You decide what we want to remove – Modi or corruption,” Modi said in a maha Parivartan rally – the first interface with public after his Saturday’s televised address which updated country on note ban that was announced on November 8 – held here on Monday.

“These opposition parties have become irrelevant in the present post-demonetisation scenario. I promise that I will work against corruption and black money with more vigor,” he said adding that all opposition parties were united in opposing Modi “because he has started a campaign against black money,”

In his over 50 minute speech which was laced with one liner Modi stressed on development of Uttar Pradesh. He refrained from taking the name of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi or even talked about the on-going feud in the Samajwadi Party but talked about how developed Uttar Pradesh could help in making India strong.

“If you want to remove illiteracy and poverty from India; first remove them from UP and other thing will follow suit,” he said.

Asking people to give preference to development than caste Modi said India cannot develop if UP lags behind in all development indicators. “For BJP UP election is taking responsibility to remove illiteracy, unemployment and poverty. It is unfortunate that development is not priority for the rulers in UP, their only mantra is corruption and goondaraj. This should change,” he said.

He criticised Mayawati for raising objection on naming the mobile app as BHIM. “Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar was a visionary and finances wizard. If we have launched an App on his name why others should have objection to it,” he asks without taking Mayawati’s name. “I wish that every household should have this App so that they can remember the contribution of this great leader,” he said.

Referring to Opposition leaders PM said a party is trying hard to establish a son (Rahul Gandhi) in the politics for last 15 years but it has failed while another is looking for ways to save ill-gotten money and third party is trying to protect its family.

“There is only BJP which is trying to save Uttar Pradesh,” he said. “Give your full support because a majority government will he help you better,” he said.

Thanking people for giving BJP enormous support in the 2014 lok Sabha polls leading to formation of a majority government at the Centre after 30 years, the Prime Minister said: “I want to root out unemployment and poverty from the country. Till you all give me support like you did in 2014 again in the coming assembly polls its fulfillment is hard.”

Hitting out at Samajwadi Party Government he said that Centre had given Rs 2.5 lakh crore but UP Government failed to distribute it among farmers. UP has failed to purchase paddy and pulses from the farmers while the sugarcane farmers are facing severe problems. “Instead of working for the welfare of people Samajwadi Party government is doing politics and is only instigating farmers against Centre, he alleged.

Modi assured the people that the BJP government in UP will end goondaraj and will give a clean government as given by Kalyan Singh and Rajnath Singh.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, “A BJP government in UP will be a ghar vapsi of susahan in the state.

“Corruption and law and order is a major problem for the people of this state. This crowd is a clear indication that ople want a change,” he said.
