BJP MP Subramanian Swamy said that he was determined to get the Ram temple constructed in Ayodhya as he had promised to late Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) president Ashok Singhal, to save the Ram Setu and construct a Ram temple in Ayodhya. “I have already fulfilled the promise made on Ram Setu and it is my duty to construct the Ram temple,” he said.
Swamy, who waqs in lucknow on Thursday and met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, said that several appeals have been made to the Muslims to drop their claim on the disputed site but they have not responded.
“I don’t need the state or Central government for the construction of the temple. If Muslims don’t agree to withdraw their claim, then we will win it through the court and I am alone enough for them,” Swamy added.
After meeting the CM, Swami said, “Ram temple is related to our faith. We have the right to go there and worship lord Rama.”
Refusing to disclose details of his talks with Yogi Adityanath, he said that it was a planned programme and there was nothing to hide.
On the Ram temple, Swamy said, “In Islamic countries, mosques are demolished for construction and widening of roads. The mosque constructed by Prophet Mohammad in Mecca was demolished. Hence, Muslims should withdraw their claim on the Babri mosque and pave way for the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya.”
The MP further claimed, “Besides, the Allahabad High Court on the basis of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) reports has already given its judgment that remains of a temple existed at the place where the mosque was built thereafter. Hence, now the Supreme Court too in its judgment will consider these facts.”
