Despite the state being in the thores of acute power crisis, Power minister Shrikant Sharma said that the state had adequate electricity and it was being supplied as per roster. “Most breakdowns and burning of transformers are due to excessive load as consumers hide the actual load requirement. Government is doing everything to make people aware about load factor and they should increase it to avoid disruption in supply,” Sharma told reporters in lucknow on Tuesday. The minister reiterated that there was no shortage of power in the state.
“The government is supplying power as per requirement. Process has been initiated to re-calibrate load system. We are adhering to the roster according to which districts will get 24 -hour, tehsils 20-hour and villages 18-hour power supply,” he said. “There are some complaints about outages which is because of distribution system. In case transformers go kaput, they are being replaced within stipulated time. But the main problem is that department does not have record of actual load requirement. I appeal to consumers to increase their load as per consumption to avoid breakdown in supply,” he said. Sharma also declared that all 17 Nagar Nigams will be made `No Trip Zone’ by August 15.
