Despite of stern warning issued by director general of police regarding taking stern and timely action in matter concerning with safety and security of members of fairer sex, the negligence of the police led to sensational killing of a high school girl in Gonda, a jilted lover killed another girl in Meerut before making an attempt on his own life and lastly an attempt was made on the life of a minor after she objected to rape attempt in Muzaffarnagar.
Surprisingly in Gonda, the killer was released on bail just about a month back and opened threatened to eliminate the victim, but local police took no cognizance which costs the victim her life.
Reports said that one Shiv Mangal Soni (30), a native of Kaudiya Bazar in Gonda was involved in teasing a 17-year-old girl Kukum aka lakshmi Devi, a student of class 10th in a local college. When the accused started physical harassment to the girl, she revealed it to her parents following which, they first warned the accused and later reported the matter to the police after which he was arrested and send to jail.
Reports confirmed that Soni was released on bail about a month back and from the first day of his release, he gave open life threat to Kukum as well as her parents for daring to register a case against him.
The accused also threatened the family that they can not do anything to him now and he will continue to follow Kukum. Sources said that when the father of the girl again reported the matter to the police, Soni learnt of it.
Reports said that as the cops took no cognizance of report so Soni took the opportunity and on Saturday morning, he first tried to molest the girl and when she objected and raised an alarm, the accused whipped out a pistol and opened fire killing the girl on the spot. He later escaped from the spot. Agitated with the killing, about three hundred of local residents and
family members had kept the body on road and had created a huge road blockade demanding arrest of the criminal and also action against the policemen whose
negligence led to sensational killing in the area. later on assurance of the senior officers, the protest was called off and the body was sent for post-mortem examination. Efforts were also made to nab the accused.
In another case reported from Meerut, one Ravindra, a resident of Khajuri Parikshitgarh area of Medical Police Station, was trying to lure 17-year-old Dalit girl Divya, residing in the same locality. However, when Ravindra failed in his efforts, he tried to get Divya forcibly when she resisted to it, the accused finally on Saturday afternoon, shot the girl dead and
later also opened fire at him to commit suicide. While Divya died on the spot, seriously injured Ravindra was taken to Medical College where his condition was stated to be ` critical’ by the doctors. A case has been registered in this regard but no arrest has been made so far.
In Muzaffarnagar, one Albab, owning a poultry farm in Meenakshi Chowk area of Kotwali Muzaffarnagar, and his aide identified as Kallu, both pulled a 15-year-old minor girl on the terrace of the poultry farm and tried to rape her on Fridaylate evening. When the girl objected and threatened to report the matter to the police, both the accused had pushed him from
the terrace to kill her. The victim who was critically injured in the incident was shifted to District Hospital. local police rushed to the spot and had registered a case and were making efforts to arrest both the accused. The medical examination of victim was also conducted.
