Death of HUJI Khalid Mujahid militant case could be a murder claims family

Published on:

Mystery behind death of alleged militant of Harkat-ul-Jehade Islami (HUJI) Khalid Mujahid seems to have ended after the reports of forensic and medico legal experts claimed to have found nothing suspicious which pointed that it could be case of murder as claimed by the family members.

The report will now also put a full stop to politics over the issue as many leaders went on to accused the state government for orchestrating the killing by poisoning the victim. It may be mentioned that to avert any controversy, state government on recommendation of the family members of the victim recommended a probe by sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) but the central agency yet to take any decision  on the issue. Besides just few months before the death state government also went ahead to withdraw terror charges against Khalid along with dozen other militants claiming that they were innocent. However, the court reacted strongly and while turning down the plea of the government, they pointed that let the trial decide

that who was innocent or guilty. Sources said that in his report based on findings of experts, deputy director of the forensic science laboratory (FSl) of lucknow in his report sent to state government and to district police chief of Barabanki which is probing the matter, claimed that they tested Viscera of the victim but found no poisonous or other substance which showed that it could be case of murder. Similarly all other reports of the autonomy of the victim pointed everything normal ruling out the murder theory.

Earlier the post-mortem examination  of the victim conducted by a panel of doctors that too in presence of family members also showed that it was not a case of murder though it stated that the actual cause of death could not be ascertained. They preserved the viscera and send it for test to confirm whether the accused was poisoned to death. Khalid Mujahid, an alleged HuJI militant died in police custody under mysterious circumstances  while to a prison in lucknow from Barabanki  on May 18 last.

The family members alleged that he was killed under a well planned strategy by the law enforcing agencies who already framed  fake terror charges on Khalid.Khalid Mujahid, an alleged member of terror group HuJI was involved in the bomb blasts in lucknow and Faizabad courts in November 2007. He was arrested by the sleuths of Special Task Force (STF) along with another militant Tariq Kasmi. But his arrest was always under
question. Former chief minister Mayawati had constituted the Justice RD Nimesh Committee in 2008 to enquire into the arrests of Khalid Mujahid and Tariq Kasmi. The committee had finalized and given its report to the government in August 2012 but the Akhilesh government has yet not made it public.
According to the sources, the Nimesh Committee has stated that that  Khalid and Tariq were brutally tortured by the police and forced to sign on a statement accepting their involvement in the blasts.

The report has also named the police officers who allegedly tortured the duo Report said, those policemen name must be specify so the action  could be taken against them.
