Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday penned an emotional tweet after cremating his father, Mulayam Singh, on Tuesday in his native village Saifai.

Hours after performing the last rights of father Mulayam Singh Yadav, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav took to twitter on Wednesday, metaphorically describing the dawn as one without the Sun.

Yadav, who is leader of Opposition in Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, shared two photographs from the site where his father was cremated and wrote, "Aaj pehli baar laga…bin suraj ke uga savera (Felt as if the dawn arrived without the sun)," in Hindi.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Wednesday, visited Saifai and offered his condolences to the Yadav family on the demise of Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav. He spent about half an hour with party chief Akhilesh Yadav and met other family members.

Kumar told reporters that Mulayam Singh Yadav's demise was a great loss to the nation. "We all wanted to work together but God ‘swill was otherwise," he said.

Meanwhile, the Yadav family, on Wednesday, performed the 'shuddhi sanskar' in which the men in the family got their heads tonsured. As per the tradition of Saifai, the 13th day ceremony and community feast will not be held and shuddhi ceremony will be held on the 11th day after the death.

SP leader IP Singh has written a letter to President Droupadi Murmu, seeking Bharat Ratna for Mulayam Singh Yadav.

“Mulayam Singh Yadav’s name will enhance the glory of Bharat Ratna. Netaji should be conferred the country's highest civilian award Bharat Ratna without delay,” he mentioned in the letter.

Tens of thousands of people had turned up at the funeral of the Samajwadi Party patriarch, bidding farewell to a leader who influenced politics far beyond his home state.

Akhilesh Yadav lit the funeral pyre in the Saifai’s Mela ground, where people had begun gathering hours in advance filling up all available space.
