lethargic approach of the Mathura police in taking action against some local goons involved in sexual harassment of a minor girl, had forced the victim to make self-immolation bid after going in depression. The victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition where she is still fighting for her life. Surprisingly, only after the girl’s above move, the local police came into action and claimed to have formed teams and conducting raids to arrest the culprits who were absconding.
Reports said that a 13-year-old girl Sarita (name changed), hailing from Gopalpura locality of City Kotwali area in Mathura, was teased and molested by some local goons whom she identified as Akash, Sumit, Iqbal, Waseem aka lala etc. Sarita, who was mostly intercepted by the accused when she was on her way to school, had informed her parents about the above, who in turn first warned the accused and later reported the matter to the local police requesting to take strong action.
Reports further said that the cops ignored the compliant and instead asked the family members of the victim to tackle the situation on their own. The inaction of the cops proved fatal for the family when the victim after being molested by the accused on Monday morning, returned home and in depression, she poured kerosene over her body and set herself ablaze to commit suicide. When the family members noticed the incident they somehow doused the fire and rushed the girl to district hospital. A case has been registered against the above accused and efforts were reportedly made to nab them.
Meanwhile two cases of rape were also reported from separate parts of the state. In Badaun, one Irshad, a native of Basait locality, barged inside the house of his neighbour and raped his 16-year-old daughter after finding her alone on Monday night.
The accused also threatened the girl with dire consequences if she will report the matter to anyone. However, the girl informed her family members who in turn lodged a report with the local police. Similarly in Ambedkarnagar, one Pinku aka Guddu, a resident of Saidpur locality of Malipur area, had reportedly called his neighbourhood girl, studying with him in class 12th in the same school and later raped her. A case was registered in this regard but the cops not arrested the accused so far.
In one more case of suspected rape and murder, body of an unknown girl probably in her late twenties has been recovered in Gorakhpur on Tuesday afternoon. Reports said that some unknown person informed the police control room that body of an unknown girl was lying near railway track in Kusumhi area of Khorabar locality on Tuesday morning. Circumstantial evidences suggested that she was sexually assaulted before being murdered. local police sent the body for post-mortem examination and were making efforts to maintain identity of the girl. The autopsy was also conducted by panel of doctors.
