Without naming the BJP, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that members of a ‘chalu party’ engineered the Dadri incident to divert people’s attention from development in UP and divide society on religious lines to get political mileage in the 2017 Assembly polls.
“The ‘chalu party’ members raise different issues every six months thereby working on their agenda. UP isd well on the path of development, they want to disturb the process,” Yadav said at a function in lucknow where he honoured 189 Urdu students on Wednesday.
Yadav said that these people had earlier given the slogan of ‘Make in India’ and now talking about ‘Digital India’. Similarly in UP, they are shifting goalposts frequently.
“This is only being done to get political mileage ahead of the 2017 Assembly polls. Beware of such elements who spread canard on anything and everything,” warned the CM.
Alleging that the image of UP was tarnished in the twin sister rape case at Badaun, Yadav said that the media went hammer and tongs against the government and internationalized the issue. But when the truth came out, no one cared to apologise.
“Same is now being done in the Dadri lynching case and has been blown out of proportion. If UP is defamed internationally, it sulliestheimage of India too,” he said.
“We have been questioned repeatedly. We have sent a report and now we havebeen asked for another report,” he said referring to reports that MHA has asked UP government to submit a detailed report on Dadri case.
Without naming PM Narendra Modi, the CM said: “We have been hearing that investments are coming but it is not visible. UP has not received a single penny.”
“When the SP decided to distribute laptops to meritorious students, the Opposition parties bitterly criticized us. Nowe in states where they have governments, they are emulating our actions,” said Yadav.
“The UP Government is committed to promoting both Urdu and Hindi as we believe that progress and promotion of local language go hand in hand. In pre-independent India, Urdu and Hindi were the languages of freedom fighters and not English,” he said.
Earlier, Chairman of Urdu Academy, Nawaj Devbandi outlined the achievements of the Academy and said that Urdu classes will be run in foreign countries too.
The UP government gave cheques of Rs 5100 to 189 students who passed Class X and XII in Urdu. The CM also awarded Kartikke of Mainpuri, who got 88 out of 100 in Urdu in the High School Board.
