Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan claimed that Uttar Pradesh has become the first state of the country to take the route of e-governance to provide pension and scholarships to 15 million beneficiaries besides making commercial taxes department consumer friendly by making almost all payments and registration online.
Ranjan said here that UP was the first state to integrated the state treasury with the Centre’s Public Financial Management System (PFMS) through which all the pension and scholarship amount are being directly sent to the bank account of the beneficiaries.
“The e-governance will weed out corruption in form of middle men. The beneficiary would be directly in touch with the government. This will help the students and the pensioners alike,” Ranjan said
In this the PFMS system, the beneficiaries are also alerted about the payment through SMS. They would know when the money has been credited in their accounts. This will also save the beneficiaries from making unnecessary rounds to the bank,” Chief Secretary said.,
There are around 10 million pensioners including that of Samajwadi Pension, widow pension and handicapped pension. The remaining 5 million are students getting scholarships, he said.
Similarly in the commercial taxes department, registrations is being done only through on-line and that too in three days time. All the taxes are paid on-line besides all the queries of the traders are also replied on their email, the Chief Sescreatry said.
