CS asks engineers to complete all works within time

Highlighting the important role engineers played in development, Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan on Friday called up on them to complete all works within the stipulated time.

“It is the duty of engineers to ensure completion of construction works with quality and as per specified standards within the stipulated time. It is the responsibility of engineers to ensure that quality of work done under their supervision is visible to the public,” Ranjan said after inaugurating a two-day training programme — ‘Road Specification/Soil Material Testing, problems, solutions in road construction and latest techniques’ — for the engineers here on Friday.

He said that approval from appropriate authority should be taken for altering the old structure of roads but roads should be better and durable.

“Optimal utilisation of construction material should be ensured,” he added.

The Chief Secretary said quality roads, on one hand, enabled smooth traffic and, on the other, contributed significantly to the development of the state.

“By incorporating new technology for building roads as per standards, we can touch new heights of development,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Housing Commissioner Shahabuddin Mohammad said that if engineers used the know-how gained in the road construction training programme, the public would be benefited.

He said that advanced technology in road construction would enable completion of work within time as well as meeting the standards of quality.

“It is extremely important to train all engineers of the Housing Board in road construction through new technology and machines,” he added.

Additional Housing Commissioner and Secretary Rudra Pratap Singh also spoke on the occasion.
