law and order situation in the State has been taken for a ride by the criminals who even not hesitate to open fire on the police party, to make a safe escape. The incident in Bagpat, in which the criminals not only managed to set free dreaded gangster free from police custody but also looted AK-47 assaulted rifles and SlRs, is not an isolated case but many such incidents have been reported in about a last fort-night. Surprisingly, in majority of the incidents the cops remained mute spectators and failed to do anything.
On last Friday, over two dozen inmates of Juvenil e Home in Meerut created ruckus when they not only misbehaved with the cops, but later they also attacked the police party in which they not just killed a police constable but also left many of them seriously injured.
Within 24-hours of this incident, another similar incident was reported from Chitrakot, where four juveniles, jailed for rape and dacoity, have escaped from the Child Protection Home after opening fire and also hitting the security guard with the butt of the country made revolver. The sensational incident took place in Karvi area of the dacoit infested Chitrakot district in Bundelkhand region and Deepak Patel, nephew of dreaded dacoit Sudesh Patel alias Balkheria on whom UP and MP government have announced a reward of Rs 4 lakh on his arrest, was amongst the four inmates who escaped.
Besides the above, in a separate incident reported from Muzaffarnagar, unidentified criminals sprayed the chief warden of local district jail, Chunni lal, that too just adjacent to jail boundary on last Thursday night. In this incident also, the local police is still
groping in dark.
On November 29 last, a listed gangster, Pappu aka Chandra Kumar Kori, who was out on bail in a murder case just three days back struck terror when he opened fire at a police party and killed an inspector, Raj Kumar Singh, posted as incharge of Kotwali police station, in Faraukabad. The sensational incident took place in broad daylight but the cops failed to do anything and it was local residents who nabbed the criminal.
Close on the killing of above inspector, yet another police constable was killed while his colleague was injured when criminals opened fire on them after they tried to intercept them in Meerut on December 2 last. Constables Ekant Yadav (24) and lokesh Bhati were on night patrol duty when they received information about presence of two criminals at a shop near a tyre factory in lisadi gate area of Meerut.
They rushed to the spot and as they tried to intercept the criminals, they opened fire on the police party and killed a constable. luckily, in this incident, the cops also retaliated in which one of the criminal was hit by a bullet and later died on way to hospital.
The above incidents are just a few to expose the deteriorating law and order situation and declining `Iqbal’ of the Police in the State. Besides there are many incidents in which firing even took place inside court compound to eliminate someone in police custody.
