State continue to remain in grip of criminals who struck on their will, committing killings, looting costly booty and were even involved in over half a dozen raped besides eliminating at least two of the victims of sexual assault besides burning one of the girl alive.
In Hardoi, three persons were killed and over half a dozen others injured when dacoits struck in Pali area of the district and looted valuables and cash on late Sunday night. Taking serious cognizance of the matter, SP Hardoi, Umesh Kumar Singh, on directions of IG (lucknow Zone)A Satish Ganesh, who also visited the spot, had suspended the local Pali police station incharge along with constables who were on night patrol duty.
Reports said that the dacoits barged into a house in Birhana locality late on Sunday night and bludgeoned to death 55-year-old Rishikant Bajpai with sticks and injured his wife and son. later, they struck at a house in Sheikh Sarai locality and killed 45-year-old Bhuri, and also injued other family members. later the robbers targeted at least four more houses killing one more person and injuring half a dozen others before fleeing with valuables and cash. Police suspect the 'kachcha baniyan' or 'banwariya' gang to be behind the incident.
In a similar incident reported from Gorakhpur, some unknown miscreants barged inside the house on one Sukhiya lawrence (55), a resident of Motipokhra in Basharatpur Sahapur area and brutally hacked her and her 23-year-old daughter Asarli aka Jaini, and escaped with ornaments, and other iterms. The sensational crime was noticed after tenant in the house found the landlady and her
daughter not coming and bad smell coming from the room which was locked from outside on Sunday evening. The local police broke opened the door and found the duo brutally hacked with sharp edged weapons. Interestingly, in this case the cops arrested one Shiv Prakash aka Chotu and claimed to have worked out the case. They said that Shiv was trying to lure Jaini but when she and her mother protested, he eliminated both and also looted booty.
In Shajahenpur, 55-year-old Munna, a resident of Singapur area of Mirjapur, was brutally hacked to death by some unknown persons when he went out on Sunday evening. In Sitapur, a 34-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped and shot at by four persons over a land dispute. The incident took place on Saturday night when four accused identified as Munna, Kallu, Gaffar and Kaleem abducted the woman from her home and allegedly gang-raped and shot at her in her leg when she offered resistance. SP Sitapur, BB Singh said the accused took offence when the victim's husband refused to sell his land through them.
In one more sensational crime reported from lakhimpur Kheri, a 10-year-old girl was found dead in Nighasan area, allegedly killed after being raped. Half-naked body of the victim was recovered from a field where she had gone to collect grass for domestic
animals. Circumstantial evidences suggested that some unidentified killer strangulated the girl to death with her own leggings. It is suspected that the attacker first outraged the modesty of the child and later killed her to conceal his identity. On the complaint of the girl's father, an FIR had been registered implicating a person of the same village. In one rape and murder reported from Kheri, a 23-year-old woman hailing from Nighasan, was alone in the house as her husband went to enjoy 20-20 cricket final in neighbour’s house. Taking advantage of the situation, a local youth jumped and raped the woman. later in fear of being identified, the accused shot dead the woman before fleeing from the spot.
In yet another case reported from Kheri, one 20-year-old girl hailing from Kotwali area reportedly went to withdraw money from ATM on Sunday evening. As she came of ATM, some local youths identified as Akash, Ankit, Kartika Singh etc had kidnapped her on a car and later raped her. They also made MMS of the crime before dumping the girl in a secluded place. In Aligarh, a 18-year-old girl hailing from Banna Devi, was forcibly held captive by local Youth Veerpal and raped. The incident took place on Sunday evening when she went to collect water from public tap.
In another incident in Bhira area in Sitapur, a youth allegedly raped a hearing and speech-impaired teenaged girl and fled, leaving the girl in a very serious condition. The girl somehow revealed in gestures to her sister-in-law about the alleged rape. However, owing to her inability to speak, she could not disclose the accused's identity. Bhira police rushed the girl to district hospital where she was reported to be serious. An FIR has been lodged and efforts are on to identify and nab the culprit. In Kanpur, a 22-year-old woman was kidnapped from Juhi Roadways Depot on a car and raped by Yogesh Mishra and Om Dwevedi, on Sunday evening.
In a separate case at Bareilly, a 19-year-old girl was burnt alive allegedly by her lover after he was stopped from visiting her house in Maulagarh village here. The accused, identified as Wasim (22), a friend of the victim's brother, set her ablaze when she was alone in her house on Sunday night. The girl died on the spot. According to the neighbours, the accused also sustained burns while fleeing from the spot. Police is carrying out a search in nearby hospitals and Nursing homes to nab the accused.
