Targeting poor law and order, corruption and inept public distribution system, the Communist parties decided the launching of a stir against the Samajwadi Party government.

In the two-day meet of Communist Party of India (CPI) state executive body which concluded on Thursday it was decided to hold processions at all district headquarters on June 10. The party is also launching a fund-raising campaign for the upcoming lok Sabha polls. The important decisions were taken in the presence of national party general secretary S. Sudhakar Reddy.

“The awareness campaign across the state will focus on the rising crime against women including rape, deliberate ruining of public distribution system, corruption in government offices and ignoring farmers’ interests,” said CPI state secretary, Dr. Girish on Thursday.

“In view of the next lok Sabha polls, the party has planned to launch a fund raising campaign starting from May 12. Teams of party workers would collect grains and cash in rural and urban areas,” he said.

Meanwhile, the state committee of Communist Party of India (Marxist) has decided to hold dharna from May 25 to 31 at tehsil and block level to demand end to forcible land acquisition, ensuring food security, better law and order, prevention of unemployment and harassment of women in UP. These decisions were taken in state committee meeting to review the political situation in UP. The meet was chaired by national CPI (M) general secretary, Prakash Karat.

State CPI (M) secretary SP Kashyap said that concerned with rising crime against women, party units will take out processions and public meetings at every district headquarters on May 10.

Kashyap said that it is being felt by the party that with the lok Sabha polls inching closer, communal forces were becoming active in UP. “As the state government has failed in reigning in divisive  forces, the CPM along with other left parties will launch a campaign coon to build communal harmony,” he said.
