Communist Party of India (Marxist Leninist) state secretary Sudhakar Yadav said a video of the police lathi-charge in Kanpur Dehat district hospital that was viral on social media showed the true face of the police in Yogi Adityanath government.
“The video is an example of the police rule in Uttar Pradesh. A look at the video shows that there is no change in the state government’s stand on cruelly dealing with those raising a voice against the government even though the 2022 elections are nearing. The police force has crossed the limits of high-handedness and it is the result of the freedom given to the cops by the state government,” he said.
Yadav further said the government buckled under public pressure after the people condemned the incident on social media and was forced to suspend the errant inspector.
He demanded action against the police and district administration for cane-charging the employees for demonstrating in a peaceful way.
