The state unit of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) demanded the immediate removal of Union Minister for State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni after the SIT concluded the probe, indicating the involvement of the minister’s son in the mowing down agitating farmers leading to several deaths in Tikunia area of Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3.
CPI (ML) state secretary Sudhakar Yadav said that new facts related to the Lakhimpur Kheri incident had surfaced in the report of the SIT formed on the instruction of the Supreme Court.
“The SIT has ascertained that death of four farmers was not a mishap but it was a case of murder executed under well thought out conspiracy. The sections of Indian Penal Code which earlier were imposed on Teni’s son and others have been changed into that of murder,” Yadav said.
“Different farmers’ associations have been crying foul since the day of the incident on October 3 and now the SIT too has proved that the incident was a case of murder. Hatching a conspiracy to execute murder of farmers could not be the brainchild of the minister’s son or his cronies. If one studies in the light of the dharna organised by farmers a week back when the incident took place and threats given by the minister, then the issue will reach a logical conclusion itself. Farmers had shown black flags to Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya in protest of threats given by Teni and the same day the farmers were crushed to death,” the CPI (ML) leader pointed out.
“It is an insult to the Constitution and democracy to continue the minister in cabinet in the light of above facts. Such a person deserves a place in jail instead of being a part of the national cabinet. By continuing with Teni in the ministry, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s real face has been exposed,” he said.
