In view of improvement in the novel coronavirus situation, the Uttar Pradesh government has further relaxed the Covid-induced night curfew for two hours and now the markets will open an hour early and will remain open till 10 pm.
“The night Covid curfew has been relaxed further for two hours and now it will be in force from 10 pm to 6 am,” Additional Chief Secretary (Information) Navneet Sehgal said here on Sunday.
Earlier, the Covid curfew was 9 pm to 7 am daily.
Sehgal said that the weekend curfew on Saturday and Sunday would continue and all the markets would remain closed and sanitisation work would be carried out.
He said during the last 24 hours, 125 novel coronavirus positive cases had been confirmed across the state while 134 COVID-19 patients had recovered.
“There has been a steady decline in active cases since April 30 and at present the state has 1,594 active cases. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state has further improved to 98.6 per cent. So far, more than 16.83 lakh people of the state have been cured of coronavirus infection,” he said.
Sehgal said 20 coronavirus positive people, the highest among districts, were confirmed in Sultanpur and they all belong to the same family and had recently returned from Maharashtra.
UP has recorded a total Covid tests of 6,06,17,011 after 2,40,020 tests were done on Saturday.
“Testing is the backbone for containing the transmission of coronavirus infection as it helps in early detection of cases, their isolation and contact tracing. With extensive testing, despite being the most populous state, UP’s pandemic response has fared better than other major states. We will continue to extend the testing and healthcare facilities in all districts to benefit every needy,” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said.
RT-PCR laboratories have come up in 44 districts of the state and work is underway to set up such laboratories in other 30 districts within three to four months. Uttar Pradesh has come a long way from getting the first Covid test conducted from the lab at National Institute of Virology, Pune in 2020 to crossing the milestone of 6-crore tests.
Not a single new case of coronavirus infection was found in 29 districts during the past 24 hours, while COVID-19 patients were in single digit in 45 districts. Only one district reported new positive cases in double digits. So far more than 3.71 crore vaccine doses have been administered. Of these, more than 3,13,68,000 people took the first dose.
