Uttar Pradesh seems to be heading in the right direction in its fight against COVID-19 with its patient recovery scaling the 40 per cent mark, almost 11 per cent more than the national average.
Principal Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad told media persons in Lucknow on Friday that the recovery rate of COVID-19 patients in the state stood at 40.09 per cent against the national average of 29.35 per cent.
“Even as coronavirus positive cases are rising in UP, fortunately, the number of active patients is going down due to quick recovery. On May 4, the number of active patients was 1,939, on May 5 it was 862, on May 6 it was 1,831 but it slightly peaked to 1,868 on May 7 and on May 8, it was the lowest at 1,821,” he said.
Prasad said that the number of testing was also increasing with each passing day and on Thursday, 4,848 samples were tested and the total numbers of tests done, including in private and public labs, stood more than 1.16 lakh.
“Uttar Pradesh ranks second in the country for conducting maximum number of tests,” he said.
Besides on Thursday, there were 373 pool tests of 1,779 samples, in which 18 pools were found positive.
At present, there are 1,885 patients in isolation beds at Covid hospitals of UP while 9,575 people are in quarantine.
