The Uttar Pradesh government issued orders for cremation of people dying due to the viral disease free of cost.
A government order issued by Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development, Manoj Kumar Singh said that cremation of Covid bodies would be done free of cost and the expenses would be borne by the respective municipal bodies.
The GO addressed to all district magistrates, municipal commissioners and heads of local urban bodies said that the expenditure of cremation of Covid bodies should be made through their own resources at present and later funds would be made available through the UP Finance Commission.
However, the government fixed Rs 5,000 as the maximum expenditure for cremation of a Covid body. The GO also mentioned strict compliance of Covid guidelines by the Urban bodies while cremation of such bodies.
