Police excesses on a suspect led to the suspension of five cops in Mathura while eight cops of a police outpost were suspended after a sensational dacoity at Baghpat on Friday.

In Mathura, a clash between cops posted at Farah police station and Toll Plaza staff on NH-02 took place early Wednesdaymorning. Sub-inspector Govind Singh of Farah police station alleged that Toll Plaza staff were extorting money illegally and whn they reached there and questioned, the staff attacked them after which they had to use force. The police party also registered a case against Toll Plaza manager Anil Yadav and 25 other unknown employees on Thursday.

However, a video went viral on the social media exposing that the cops assaulted the staff after the latter refused to pay a `cut’ to the police team. After scanning the video, SSP Mathura suspended sub-inspector Govind Singh, constables – Veerpal Singh, Vijay, Yogesh Kumar and Munendra and asked the Additional SP to initiate an enquiry for further action.

The criminals looted cash and jewellery worth over Rs 2.5 crore and sped off on two bikes. As the crime was committed in close proximity of Amapur police outpost and the personnel failed to respond to the SOS, eight policemen including the outpost incharge were suspended.

The suspended personnel were sub-inspector Munendra Kumar, Head constable Ashok Teotiya, constables – Ajit Kumar, Amit Kumar, Rajeev Kumar, Subash Yadav, Nipud Kumar and Rajesh Kumar. A case was also registered and three teams were formed to work out the robbery.
