In another embarrassment to the police, already under attack over the sensational killing of a multinational company executive in an ‘encounter’ in Lucknow, a policeman forcibly confined a Dalit boy and sodomised him in Hathras district.
The accused policeman is reportedly absconding since the incident was brought to the knowledge of senior officers.
The victim was sent for medical examination at the district hospital where the doctors reportedly confirmed the unnatural act of the cop.
A case has been registered in this connection.
Reports said that constable Sanjesh Yadav, attached to the Dial-100 vehicle of UP Police in Hathras, forcibly took the Dalit boy to his quarter at the police outpost under Kotwali police station for cooking his food.
The boy was working at a roadside tea stall. While taking the boy with him, the constable had threatened to book the tea stall owner for employing child labourer if he objected to the boy going with him or informed anyone about it.
Later, the constable forcibly sodomised the boy for several days in his quarter and threatened him with dire consequences if he told anyone about it.
After over a fortnight, when Yadav went to his native place on leave, the boy mustered courage and informed other cops posted in the area about the inhuman act of the constable. Subsequently, a constable took the boy to district police chief Jai Prakash’s office where he revealed his trauma.
On the intervention of Prakash, the Kotwali police registered a case against Sanjesh Yadav and got the boy medically examined.
Prakash said they had placed Sanjesh Yadav under suspension and ordered his arrest but he was absconding.
Circle officer Suman Kannaujia has been asked to probe the incident. Departmental action will be taken against the erring cop after the CO submits the report.
